Two operative risk indicators as tools for negotiating contracts between curators of Museums and HVAC technical services providers

2020

Abstract The purpose of Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems in museums is to properly control important microclimate parameters; such systems, in fact, apart from ensuring the visitors’ wellbeing, are requested to guarantee suitable indoor conditions for the proper conservation of the important cultural goods hosted by museums. Hence, in case of disservice, or interruption due to maintenance interventions, it is important to quantify the economic damage induced to exhibited and/or stored works of art (or even to the building museum itself). Accordingly, it is essential to guarantee the shortest possible period of disservice during which probable damages for the works of…

Obligations and Remedies Under a Related Service Contract

2014

Following the model of Directive 2011/83/EU of the 25 October 2011 on consumer rights, the proposed CESL regulation is structured on the basis of sales and service contracts. With regard to service contracts, however, the CESL only regulates those service contracts whose existence is justified by their direct link to sales contracts.

A constrained genetic algorithm to optimize a maintenance global service

2014

It is herein developed an approach to optimize the maintenance services policy related to a Global Service Contract. In particular, the latter requires the performing of corrective maintenance and replacements of the failed components on a set of equal vehicles of a logistic Company. The tackled problem concerns the determination of an effective opportunistic maintenance policyon the basis of which when a fault occurs, it is replaced the failed component and, depending on the age of the others components, also replacements of others suitable components are performed, even if they are not yet broken, thus saving a substantial amount of system downtime. The problem is mathematically formulate…

The optimization of a maintenance policy related to a global service contract

2013

With refer to a Global Service Contract between a Service Provider and a Logistic Company, the purpose of the present paper is to develop an optimization model aimed to minimize the maintenance related total cost. In particular, such contract requires the supplying of a mandatory set of corrective maintenance services on a set of equal vehicles, in a fixed time horizon. The considered problem is formulated by a non-linear constrained mathematical model that, for large practical systems as the one herein considered, becomes difficult or very hard to solve by mathematical resolution approach. For this reason, a specific resolution approach based on a constrained genetic algorithm is herein de…

Suitability of some existing damage indexes for assessing agreements in maintenance and management of museum climatization systems

2020

Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning systems in museums are called to properly control important microclimate parameters, not only for visitors’ wellbeing, but mostly for the preservation of works of art. Accordingly, in case of interruptions to Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning systems, due to maintenance interventions or drawbacks, it is essential to guarantee the acceptable break from service to which possible damages for the works of art are related. In this regard, the aim of this work is to introduce a simple indicator to support curators in regulating the stipulation of contracts with external companies, a more effective management and maintenance of the Heating, V…

An effective opportunistic maintenance policy for a global service

2010

The aim of the present paper is to develop a model for an effective maintenance policy with refer to a global service contract between a services provider company and a company for the waste management. The contract requires, with fixed performance levels of the service, the supplying of a mandatory set of maintenance services on a set of waste compactors vehicles of the outsourcer company. In particular, the service provider (SP) must perform corrective maintenance actions and the replacement of the fault parts. The tackled problem concerns the determination of an effective opportunistic maintenance policy in order to assure the required service performance levels at the minimum global mai…
